DART to go dark for Earth Hour 2012
Dallas Area Rapid Transit (DART) will show its dedication to raising environmental awareness by shutting off its lights and taking part in Earth Hour 2012.
For one hour on Saturday, March 31, all non-essential lights at DART's headquarters building, 1401 Pacific Avenue, will be turned off between 8:30 and 9:30 p.m.
DART has been an Earth Hour participant for four years and is making a difference each day with its 135 zero-emissions trains, 658 clean-fuel buses, 84 miles of high occupancy vehicle lanes, and numerous solar-powered bus shelters.
Earth Hour is a grass-roots movement started in Sydney, Australia in 2007 that has become a worldwide event encouraging positive actions for the environment and celebrating a commitment to the planet by switching off lights for one designated hour.
