DART's "Doc" Morgan Dies at Age 57

Services are scheduled for Dr. Warren Morgan, 57, DART's Vice President of Diversity and Economic Opportunity. "Doc" Morgan died suddenly Friday night, January 12.

A wake is scheduled for 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Wednesday, January 17 at the Evergreen Memorial Funeral Home (6449 S. Houston School Road) in Dallas. Funeral services are set for 12 Noon, Thursday, January 18 at Paul Quinn College (3837 Simpson Stuart Road) in Dallas.

Morgan joined DART in 1993 and since 1999 had directed the new Department of Diversity and Economic Opportunity. Previously he had run DART's Office of Equal Employment Opportunity.

DART President/Executive Director Roger Snoble said Morgan was "a very important advisor on a whole host of topics affecting DART and its future. Doc Morgan was respected by DART staff at every level and he was a valued member of our management team."

Before coming to DART, Morgan held positions as president of Paul Quinn College, Staff Director for the Florida House of Representatives, and Vice President of Student Affairs at Florida A&M University and Dean of Student Affairs at Benedict College.

Morgan earned a bachelor's degree from Maryland State College, a master's degree from Indiana University and a doctorate from Oklahoma State University.

In addition to his DART duties, Morgan had a long history of active involvement in several community organizations, including the United Way.

DART Executive Vice President/General Manager Victor Burke said, "Doc believed his mission was bringing together people from every part of DART and every part of the region. Our agency and the entire Metroplex are better places because of him."
