Banker to represent Dallas

Harrison appointed to DART Board

Photo of Huelon Andrew HarrisonDallas banker Huelon Harrison has been appointed by the Dallas City Council to membership on the Board of Directors of Dallas Area Rapid Transit. The 15-member board has representatives from each of DART's 13 member cities.

"Dallas is fortunate to have Huelon Harrison serve us on the DART board. His background and leadership will be an asset," said Dallas Mayor Ron Kirk.

A vice president and senior lender with Bank One, Harrison began his banking career in 1982, when he joined First Republic Bank Corporation. He received a Bachelor of Science degree from Southern University in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, followed by a Master of Business Administration degree from Atlanta University in 1981.

A specialist in urban banking and small business lending, Mr. Harrison serves as treasurer of the Dallas Black Chamber of Commerce and is the former chairperson of the City of Dallas Urban Rehabilitation Standards Board.

"Through business and civic involvement, I recognize that DART is a key player in the development of the area," Harrison said. "DART has accomplished many positive things. I hope to use my experience to further the agency's goals."

Harrison also served on the executive committee of the Dallas Convention & Visitors Bureau and is a trustee of the Museum of African American Life & Culture.
